How many relationships, regardless of their type, nature or complexion, are harmed, marred or even utterly broken down due to trivial, inconsequential or fatuous matters that get obsessively and contentiously argued upon?
For how much longer do we intend on wasting our lives in the senseless and vacuous wars we wage on each other? When will we begin trading in feeding our egos with feeding our souls? When will recognize the foolishness of prioritizing our righteousness over doing what is right?
When will we put kindness over correctness, curiosity over conviction, and unconditional love over conditional leverage? Isn't about time we traded in our judging for appreciating? Isn't it high time our conscience evolved so much that we are able to self-correct and reflect upon the chances that we might not be correct all the time? When will we let go of our righteousness and choose to just be together?
This timeless and profound lesson invites us to re-contemplate and re-consider what truly matters in life, underscoring our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve in full dignity, and honour, our ephemeral existence on the Pale Blue Dot; the only home we've ever known. And to just be human. Just human, first .. and foremost, before anything else.
Let us always remember that making a point should never take precedence over maintaining a friendship. May we never forget that what truly matters isn't who was right, it's who did what was right. Because at the end of the day, we need each other.
