The environmental movement, ever since its inception in 1970, has gained tremendous recognition, mind-dizzying momentum and so much clout by not depending solely on one single strategy on the hope that it would miraculously be auspicious or effective, but rather utilising a much more all-encompassing and holistic approach with a multitude of strategies and a diverse range of effective tactics and methods that were discovered after careful and forensic analysis of; how the world works; how humans work on a psychological level; how change occurred historically; and how the quickly-changing world state of affairs could be taken into consideration when applying that knowledge of how the world works and how change had historically been created; and so it transpired that that holistic, overarching approach happened to be very effective and coherent..
And so much so, insofar as where politicians and business elites, and especially bankers, were now taking the environment, climate and the future of the Earth very seriously; they were disbanding entire companies and and revamping their product lines, dismantling our capitalist consumerist economic system, overhauling the education system, and devising new economic and educational systems to be implemented and supplant the old ones ASAP.
Of the core reasons behind the incredible success of the environmental movement, was that it had successfully shifted the societal mental paradigm and people's perception and mindset regarding nature and our planet. People used to have the fallacious conviction and notion of separation from nature and the universe. They didn't see through reality. They were under the illusion that humans were asunder from nature and the planet's life-support system, but the environmental movement successfully shaped and installed a new narrative, a new mindset, one that opened people's eyes and minds to the reality of our existence, and the fact that we're a part of a much larger interconnected web of life, not independent of it.
The environmental movement can be commended and credited with promulgating and normalising a new social etho/norm of respect for both nature and other species, and the consideration for humans' actions, or inactions, on the future of life on Earth as we knew it, and instilling in the minds of people and politicians alike, that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
The environmental movement had quickly realised it was embarking on an unprecedented endeavour, an endeavour of persuasion and changing the mindset of those whom are still in the caliginous darkness of ignorance; because it was pre-eminently clear that humanity already had all the money, technology and solutions ready and available, it simply lacked the political and societal volition for change, and so it was clear to the environmental movement that it wasn't really a matter of communicating the climate science alone, but using the science of psychology and neurology to persuade; it was a matter of digging deep into the science of psychology and emotional intelligence and neuroscience underlying how humans worked and how homosapiens can be made more likely to have an open mind and, ultimately accept and embrace change.
So, at the end of the day, human civilization was now saved. All humans now lived freely and equitably, on a habitable and spectacular planet that was now thriving with wildlife, harmoniously with nature, in equilibrium with mother Earth and in peaceful co-existence with other species. Humans now had an education system that prepared young kids for the future, not for the past; an economic system that was now based on the noble principle that everyone was equal and deserved to lead a healthy, educated and prosperous life in-line with what the planet can handle, putting an ever-lasting end to the anachronistic waste of resources in industry, loss of ecosystems in business, and loss of life in endless wars.
Peace had now reigned upon planet Earth of the Solar System, in one of the Milky Way's most quiet and serenely equanimous neighbourhoods. Because humanity had finally realised that change doesn't come from using force, or money, but from believing that each human being is capable of love, altruism and respect, and that, all along, the riddle was how to educe just that, out of each human being …
and everyone was happy.
It is an inspiring tale of persistence, self-reflection and a legendary paragon of an instance where humanity chose to employ a strategic, scientific approach to resolve its most daunting existential crisis .. and it paid off generously .. in the end.
