I learned how healing it can be to simply be grateful for the things and people in our life. We are told that time is no one‘s friend. Because it takes away all that we love, be it people or things. But I found an alternative perspective that fascinated me: that time gives before it takes; it gives us fond moments with our loved ones before it takes those very people away. It gives us pleasures and comfort with material possessions, before rotting them away in decay.

Time gives before it takes, and so perhaps instead of getting angry at what it took, we ought to first be grateful for what it gave—and still does.
